Palilla Family, DIA

This was my first time using the benefits of the flat layout near Denver Int’l Airport (DIA) to conduct a photo shoot.  If you want to get a great view of the mountains, I highly recommend this area!

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  Aspen still has that soft puppy fur!

2.  I somehow managed to push my own overachieving limits!  While using the camera to take photos, I also balanced the reflector with my opposite hand and shoulder while using my foot to attract the dogs’ attention with a squeaky toy!

3.  The Palillas like to take family photos showing off the gorgeous landscape of their current location, so here, that naturally meant the mountains!

Retouching Challenge: part two

Apparently, I am the go-to-girl for photo fixes.  I don’t mind.  I’m actually quite honored that my friends trust me to take on these big challenges.  Who doesn’t love a challenge, anyway?

My friend Melinda has three children now and only one group photo of the entire family from this year.  She’s getting her holiday card ready to send out so she needs a decent photo.  Enter me!

Here’s before:

And here’s after I’ve been able to work my PhotoShop Magic:

Really quite simple, right?

I swapped out Trevor’s head from another photo at the time where he was looking at the camera.

I removed the burp cloths and comb from the arm of the couch.

I removed the pillow that was growing out of Melinda’s head.

The new crop helped to eliminate much of the clutter, but I also had to “clone” in the wall and carpet to get rid of those distractions and just clean up the appearance all together.

And of course I adjusted the curves, levels, and saturation as well.

Garrett

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  Garrett was my “Round 2″ client.  He wasn’t very comfortable in the studio, so I went over to their house the next day, for some variety.

2.  He is a big bundle of energy!  I wish I still had that in me!

3.  He thinks he’s a dinosaur.  It’s pretty cute that he greeted me with a growl!

O’Dorisio Family, Bass Pro Shop

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  They chose to have their photos taken at Bass Pro Shop!  Let’s give it up for thinking outside the box!  Kuddos!

2.  They were also referred to me by another client!  Bonus!

3.  The teenage boys did a good job of looking happy for their mom.  Love it!

Waters Family

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  It was their first year in their new home, so they wanted to do the photos there, in front of the Christmas tree.

2.  Sadie, the cat, was not excited about being in the group photo, but she did make an appearance!

3.  I love that Sam, the little dog, is wearing a scarf!

Bartlett Family, Wash Park

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  The girls were wearing matching sweaters.  Gotta look close.

2.  The dad was also a photography enthusiast, as he showed up with camera in hand.

3.  They were a client referral!  I love happy clients!

Pollard Family, Red Rocks

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  It was at the gorgeous Red Rocks park in Morrison, CO – home of endless summer concert series, built into the natural architecture.

2.  The two older kids got themselves a little messy while using the rocks as a slide.  I don’t think you can tell from the photos though.

3.  The weather was perfect!  We were originally scheduled to for this session earlier in the week when there was cold weather and snow.  It cleared up in the following days exponentially!

Williams Kids

This is my favorite image from their session!

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  The first image above!  Hands down!  You can’t plan on such beautiful candids as that!

2.  These two tired me out!  I was pooped by the time they were finished, and not feeling too confident about having many good photos.  I was wrong, their mom LOVED them!  I’m always my biggest critic…

3.  That little girl has got the best smile ever, when it comes out!  Just beautiful!

Solano Family, City Park

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  I booked this session by placing an ad in the internal classifieds at The Children’s Hospital, where my cousin is currently doing her pharmacy residency.  I received several new clients!

2.  I love that Janette’s grown children were still so willing to do family photos with her!  I really do love that!

3.  I also love the black and red coordination of the outfits.  It all looks great together!

Annie’s Family, City Park

My wonderful husband booked me this gig!

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  Her son is SO stinking cute in that argyle sweater vest, with his hands in his jean pockets!

2.  Annie was cutting my husband’s hair when he told her about my photography business.  He’s my # 1 referral system!

3.  Annie’s son is quite the trooper!  He tried to run away from us at one point, saying “bye bye” over his shoulder, when he fell on the sidewalk, face first.  Thank goodness he braced his fall with his hands, only to find that his hand had landed right in a pile of goose poo.  Poor guy!
